Travel Diary: No into Yes & Rhododendron
Aditi Silwal
Class 9, Bijeshwori Sainik Mahavidhyalaya
It all started with a 3 days long holiday after a long time.
I was feeling suffocated as I was repeating the same schedule every day. I wanted a refreshment but not by going somewhere else.
While returning from school I was thinking of taking a break and relaxing the whole day, but after I arrived home my expectation did not match with reality.
The bags were packed, every chore was done and everything except me was ready. I had an argument with my brother Trishan and parents but they changed my no into yes.

Angrily, I went to my room for getting ready. I changed my dress and keep my books in my bag and got ready. After some time my ‘bhinaju’ Mahendra Sedhain and ‘thulbaba’ Sudarshan Upadhyaya arrived and we headed towards ‘Chisapani, Patleban, ThapathoK’, just outside the Kathmandu, nearby Nagdhunga.
On the way, there was a lot of traffic, so I slept in the car unintentionally. I woke up with the pure air of the Chisapani. After getting out of the car, I realized that even the air of this place was welcoming us. The environment was so peaceful and mind-blowing.

I was a little sleepy and even my brother was sleeping, we were so eager to get inside the house but the key was misplaced. After some moment my father found it inside his bag.

After getting inside the house my brother woke up. I was about to sleep but he didn’t let me. Then, I went to the kitchen and became fresh. When I returned to the room, he had already slept.
After that, we all ate dinner. I just don’t know either it was hunger or the taste, but the dinner was so delicious.
After dinner, I came to the room and fall asleep immediately.

The next morning, after I woke up, we were planned to go hiking, especially for Rhododendron.

Almost at 3:30 pm, we went hiking. After walking almost about 2-3 minutes, I noticed that my slipper was not in a condition for going on a hike but I went on ignoring it and enjoying the hike with my parents, brother, ‘bhinaju and thulbaba’. After walking for about 10 minutes we saw a tree of Rhododendron. We all were so excited, especially my brother. I was so thirsty at that time but I even ignored my thirst and enjoyed nature and its beauty.
My ‘thulbaba’ was picking up the Rhodonderon and we were cheering him up. After going up for a little more time, we realized that there would be even more trees of Rhododendron in another place so we went to that place.

There my ‘bhinaju’ climbed the tree to pick up the more Rhododendron and we were clicking his photo, eating the Rhododendron and enjoying a lot. I had just seen the Rhododendron from far but it was the first time that I touched it and its tree. For some moment, even my parents were behaving like a child, as nature is the mother of everyone.
Actually, more than us my brother was enjoying the moment.
While returning, my slipper got broken and I returned to the home barefoot. It was one of the most wonderful moment in my life.
I would seriously have missed such a pleasurable moment if I had stayed in my home taking a break and relaxing …
