MY INDEFINABLE PAIN

By Dahlia Tera

You can try to define your happiness,
Made of joys, of dancings, of songs,
Made of smiles and laughs
Shared with parents and friends,
Made of lightness and satisfactions,
Of carelessness and inner peace…

It is much more difficult and inaccurate
Trying to define your pain;
You cannot share it ,
It secretly belongs only to you.

You search for other names:
Soreness, anguish, grief, sorrow,
Heartache, suffering, torment, sadness..
No one describes this lump
That you feel inside,
That grips your belly,
That haunts your mind and your heart,
That obsess your thoughts and feelings….

It’s made of tears in the night
Which know of tenderness,
Of whispered words, of hospital smells,
Of two hands one in the other,
Of looks of hope…..

How dense is it ,
How hart to bear,
When these eyes are asking you for hope
And you cannot give it…

My pain has no colour, no smell,
No shape, no sound..
It is just so deep,
It is flimsy but so heavy inside me.

I know it belongs only to me..
Then, one day, as far as possibl
I will turn it into light,.
It will become pure tenderness
As flowers on my path…
